Visit the Coffee Bar and Soldiers’ Library to sample all three exclusive Halifax Citadel-aged spirits: Noon Gun Gin, Daily Ration Rum and Granite & Grain Whisky. Each tasting is paired with a light snack and guided by notes that explore the flavour profile and story behind each spirit.

Join the 78th Highlanders for a guided tour of the Citadel, where you’ll uncover the role of alcohol in British military life, from daily rations to morale on the front lines. The Proof is in the Barrel — An immersive, behind-the-scenes experience

This signature experience offers a deeper dive into both history and craft. Begin with a guided tour of the Citadel, followed by hands-on firearms training and the opportunity to fire an authentic Snider-Enfield rifle.

From there, step into the barrel room alongside a professional distiller from Compass Distillers to learn how each spirit is created. Sample directly from the barrels, take part in the proofing process and gain insight into the art of distillation.
