The Halifax Citadel Society is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to animating the site through immersive programming, events and experiences that connect visitors to Halifax’s past in meaningful ways. Working in partnership with Parks Canada, we help ensure the Citadel remains a vibrant, living part of the community.

At the heart of the Halifax Citadel Society’s work is our people. Each season, we provide meaningful employment opportunities for young people, often high school, college and university students, who bring the Citadel to life as costumed interpreters. Through this work, they gain valuable skills, confidence and real-world experience, all while sharing stories that connect visitors from around the world to Canada’s history.
