Ready, Aim, Fire!

Feel the weight, precision and power of a soldier’s training hands-on.

Step into the role of a 78th Highlander and experience the power and precision of 19th-century military training.

Under the guidance of a costumed interpreter, you’ll learn how to safely load and fire blank rounds from an authentic Snider-Enfield rifle — the standard-issue weapon of British infantry soldiers in the late 1860s.

This hands-on experience offers a rare opportunity to go beyond observation and take part in a defining element of life at the Halifax Citadel.

“A truly unique and memorable experience. Be sure to see the short movie to introduce you to the history of the fortress and catch a short tour. We enjoyed the rifle firing exhibition as well as Cannon fire and the changing of the guards.”
